I recommend to read The Six Enneads, the major writing of Plotinus, the neoplatonist mystic.

"In this state of absorbed contemplation, there is no longer any question of holding an object in view; the vision is such that seeing and seen are one; object and act of vision have become identical"

humanity and mortality

I am reading the snows of kilimanjaro, the Hemingway's novel.

The story is about the last hours of the life of a man, in africa, because the gangrene in his leg.He is in front of his mortality. 

 Today people don't like to speak about death, but at each instant of my life I am mortal

 My mortality is not outside me, but inside me. I am human because I am mortal.
